St. Louis-Bogor Sister Cities Cultural Exchange Program Spring 2011.

On May 19, 2011, the City of Bogor celebrated the establishment of the St. Louis-Bogor Sister Cities (SLBSC) Cultural Exchange Program. The program brings together students from St. Louis and Bogor to learn about each others cultures. During the ceremony, Ms. Gisela accompanied by Ms. Tyas Ajeng and Mr. Ade Sarip Hidayat, the Deputy Mayor of the city of Bogor (representing Mayor Diani Budiarto) presented students and teachers with certificate of participation issued by SLBSC in St. Louis, MO, signed by the President (Joe Passanise) and the Cultural Exchange Director (Helena Webb) of the SLBSC.

Reporting from the City of Bogor Indonesia, Rahmadi Iman Santosa (a member of the board of directors of SLBSC) wrote in his email that the event, which was attended by about 70 students and teachers, started at 9.30am at the city of hall of Bogor for about two hours. Most of the students brought their class projects during the ceremony. "Everyone was so excited," wrote Mr. Santosa.

In the SLBSC's website (http://www.stlouis-bogorsistercities.com/), Ms. Webb wrote that the Cultural Exchange Program is designed to promote international and intercultural awareness and understanding between young people. Working to connect Saint Louis classrooms with Bogor classrooms, SLBSC creates opportunities for students a world apart to learn more about each other through projects and email exchanges.
